Remote reading disabled by default
When a smart meter is installed in your home, remote data reading is disabled by default. This means that we, as the network operator, cannot read your data remotely.
Remote reading enabled
Remote reading must be activated if:
- You produce your own energy (prosumer).
- You take part in energy sharing.
You can also activate yourself remote reading. Activating this option offers a number of advantages:
- You can follow your consumption in detail on the My Sibelga app.
- Activation gives you access to new services such as billing based on your actual monthly consumption, a dynamic tariff or personalised energy advice (more information on available and future services).
- You contribute to better management of the Brussels electricity network.
- You will no longer have to give your electricity meter reading yourself or wait for a meter reader. It will automatically be sent to your energy supplier.
What data can Sibelga read remotely?
Metering regimes
When remote reading is enabled, your energy data is sent to your supplier based on the metering regime that applies to you (R1 or R3).
